CUSTOM SUITS STARTING AT $2400

Made in the USA

Why buy a Chinese-made suit by a so-called “Bespoke” company that doesn’t actually make or even design clothing and is manned by slick salesmen and business school graduates—with not a single tailor to be found?

You can have your suit made by master tailors in Denver for only a little bit more.  Our designs are based on classic principles that have been distilled to perfection.  We pride ourselves on heritage, sophistication, and taste, so that, no matter how outrageous a concept, nothing we do ever looks cheap or mediocre.

While we specialize in true bespoke clothing—the highest end and most custom suits, muslin fit, and sewn by hand by trained tailors, with handmade buttonholes, handmade pocket tacks, and prick-stitching done by hand—we also offer a Made-to-Measure service that provides everything that our competitors offer with the added value of having it made locally with genuine accountability (watch your suit being made!), fair wages and labor practices, and environmental sustainability.

When faced with a difficult body type, a unique detail, or a fashionable new vision, other companies can merely flop around like fish out of water—-because that is what they are—salesmen posing in a craftsman’s world.

AJ Machete & Sons is a small tailoring company that makes all of its suits in Denver, Colorado using the finest materials from the USA, England, Scotland, and Italy. Since our founding in 2009, we have made thousands of suits for business, weddings, the red carpet, operas and musicals.

DON’T BE FOOLED BY OTHER LOCAL “BESPOKE” COMPANIES.

If they don’t say “Made in the USA” on their website and labels, the suits are fabricated in an overseas factory using high-tech equipment and not by bespoke tailors sewing with a needle and thread.

Don’t discover that your “hand-stitching” is done by a hand-stitch machine.

MEET THE LEGENDARY AMERICAN TAILOR:

AJ MACHETE

AJ is one of fewer than 20 bench tailors working today in the USA designing and crafting suits by hand in his Colorado studio.

Over the past 16 years AJ and his wife, Lianna Kachmar, have developed a reputation for making suits that are at once historically informed and startlingly contemporary.

They pride themselves on preserving classic handwork techniques in an age of industrial offshoring.  Both AJ and Lianna bring a fine arts sensibility to a craft that has been overshadowed by mass market commercialism.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BESPOKE AND MADE TO MEASURE?

Classically, a bespoke suit is designed for an individual client:  we start the Bespoke Process by sketching ideas.  It is made from a totally unique pattern and involves multiple fittings (we mail you muslin mock-ups if you are long distance).

And is sewn by hand without the use of high tech industrial machinery.

A made-to-measure suit is very simply a suit that is made to your measurements.  You choose from a selection of styles.  From 100s of fabrics and 100s of liners and we make the piece just from you based on your choices.  A made-to-measure suit is less individualized than a bespoke suit, but perfect when you want something classic at a good price.

Although some brands have tried to erase the difference between bespoke and made-to-measure (calling factory made semi-custom suits “bespoke”) we love to give clients all of the options based on his or her preferences and budget.

We can offer you the swift made-to-measure process or the more drawn out bespoke process or can go somewhere in between.  Our fully bespoke suits start at $3545.

Either way, the suits are made in our little workshop in Denver.
