This is a sketch of a shirt that we made for a customer for his wedding, along with some pics of the finished shirt. You won’t find anything like this at Macy’s!
The problem with dress shirts today is that they are fitted merely by the measurements of the shoulder/sleeve and neck. And, in many brands one is stuck with a shirt that is made to fit the largest of these measurements.
Last time I bought a shirt from a department store (when I was interviewing for “real” jobs, before I started this little crazy tailoring shop) the only shirt that would fit my neck had 2″ extra on each shoulder, 8″ ease at the chest and perhaps 20″ at the waist (and I am not exactly a skinny guy).
On the other hand, when I buy a fashionable name brand shirt (fitted in S-M-L-XL) there simply isn’t a size that doesn’t stop my breathing.
Am I the exception?
Not exactly. Nearly everyone has some “abnormal” feature. Perhaps you are too tall, too short, large in the chest, long arms, or a beer belly. But does that mean that you should be doomed to wearing a shirt that fits only this one feature?
Semi-Wide Collar with Tie
The shirt in these pics, fit the groom exactly. The back darts tucked in the waist, so that the whole piece was shaped exactly to fit his body.
Made from a white-on-white striped cotton with French cuffs and a semi-wide spread collar for an extra touch.
Made -to-measure in only the best fabrics starting at $165. Choose from over a dozen different collar and cuff options, and many more fit, hem, and yoke options.
